5.3.6.4.3. PIO Work Mode

In the processor input output (PIO) work mode, dedicated command registers in the NAND Flash controller register memory map are used to trigger the operation in the selected thread of the command engine (a single command can be started in each one of the threads).

This mode is dedicated in scenarios in which the host software wants to trigger a single operation, so it is easier and faster to use the command registers (command0 to command6) instead of preparing a table of descriptors in the system memory. In this case, the command engine executes the command and returns the status word separated for each execution thread. In this mode, the operation status is also returned in the NAND Flash controller registers and they are valid until a new command gets executed on the same thread.
