2.4. PCS Architecture

The PCS supports the following features:
  • IEEE 802.3 compliant Clause 49 PCS layer for each transceiver channel
  • 64/66b encoding and decoding functions, data scrambling and word aligner
You can bypass the PCS layer and drive scrambled data directly into the FEC. The following table lists the supported features for the different PCS direct modes.
