2.4. PCS Architecture
The PCS supports the following features:
- IEEE 802.3 compliant Clause 49 or Clause 107 PCS layer for each transceiver channel
- 64/66b encoding and decoding functions, data scrambling and word aligner
You can bypass the PCS layer and drive scrambled data directly into the FEC. The following table lists the supported features for the different PCS direct modes.
Supported Modes | TX | RX | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
MII Encoder | Scrambler | Word Aligner | MII Decoder | Descrambler | |
IEEE MII Interface (No FEC/Firecode) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
IEEE MII Interface (RS-FEC) | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | Yes |
IEEE_FLEXE_66 (No FEC/Firecode) | No | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |
IEEE_FLEXE_66 (RS-FEC) | No | Yes | No | No | Yes |
PCS66 (No FEC/Firecode) | No | No | Yes | No | No |
