2.4.2. Simics® Simulator

Simics® Simulator for Intel FPGAs is a full-system simulator supporting the definition, development, and deployment of virtual platforms. It is fast, accurate, scalable, and extensible. Simics® simulator runs unchanged target binaries in a fast and controllable way, providing an ideal environment for early software development (even before the silicon is available). The virtual platform integrates the simulation model of the different devices  that you may find in a real platform. In this way, the Simics® simulator along with the virtual platform allow you to exercise your embedded software (bootloaders, drivers, user application) similarly as you do it with a development kit. This simulator also provides debug features that allows you to perform software debug activities in a very easy way.
