7.1. Design Flow

You can implement the external memory interface IP using the following flows:
  • IP Catalog flow
  • Platform Designer flow

The following figure shows the stages for creating a system in the Quartus Prime software using the available flows.

Note to Figure:

The IP Catalog design flow is suited for simple designs where you want to manually instantiate the external memory interface IP into a larger component. The Platform Designer design flow is recommended for more complex system designs where you want the tool to manage the instantiation process.
