MAXEXPONENT

Inquiry Intrinsic Function (Generic): Returns the maximum exponent in the model representing the same type and kind parameters as the argument.

result = MAXEXPONENT (x)

x

(Input) Must be of type real; it can be scalar or array valued.

Results

The result is a scalar of type default integer. The result has the value emax, as defined in Model for Real Data.

Example

  REAL(4) x
  INTEGER i
  i = MAXEXPONENT(x)    ! returns 128.
