2.2.6. No direct SDM access to HPS SDRAM

Description

The SDM has no direct access to the HPS SDRAM without enabling the SMMU. This impacts all use cases that require shared memory access (DDR) between the SDM and the HPS. HPS Boot First FPGA configuration is expected to fail.

Workaround

Apply the software patch to enable SMMU in boot loader to allow direct access from the SDM to the HPS SDRAM.

The patch applies to the following flows only:

  • FPGA configuration via U-Boot in ATF-U-Boot-Linux boot flow
  • FPGA configuration via Linux in ATF-U-Boot-Linux boot flow
