Encrypting RTL IP Cores

After synthesizing your IP cores, you might want to protect them with encryption before they are integrated into a larger system. You have the following options for encrypting your IP cores:

  • Encryption with licensing

Your IP users can use the encrypted IP only in ways specified by the generated license. This license is compatible with the FlexLM licensing technology used by Quartus® Prime software.

Encryption with licensing requires a public key.

For details, refer to Encrypting RTL IP Core With Licensing.

  • Encryption without licensing

Your encrypted IP can be integrated freely using Quartus® Prime software. No licensing is enforced.

For details, refer to Encrypting RTL IP Cores Without Licensing.
