4.1.2.1.3. Nios V Command Shell

The Nios® V Command Shell is a command line environment initialized with the correct system PATH variable to run the Nios® V processor command line tools.

Depending on the host system operating system, the Nios® V Command Shell is based on the default shell or command prompt offered, such as BASH in Linux* distributions or DOS in Windows* operating systems.

Optionally, you can run a Linux* environment on your Windows* machine, without a virtual machine, by invoking any version of Windows* Subsystem for Linux* (WSL) within the Nios® V Command Shell.

Alternatively, you can manually configure your system environment for Nios® V processor development instead Nios® V Command Shell.
