2. Intel® Simics® Simulator and Virtual Platforms
This section provides high-level description of the Intel® Simics® simulator architecture, the Intel® Simics® device model, and Intel® Simics® virtual platforms. This section also describes how you can use the Intel® Simics® simulator to simulate the hardware of supported Intel FPGA devices and how the hardware simulation interacts with the software running on it.
Intel FPGA devices often integrate a mixture of components including one or more than one CPUs (soft or hard) in a single package. Each of these CPUs require its own firmware and software integrated by several layers of infrastructure, including bootloaders, drivers, operating systems, and applications. Use the Intel® Simics® Simulator for Intel® FPGAs to test your application and its interactions with all these layers.
