5.6.8.1. USB 3.1 Gen1 Controller Wakeup and Power Control

To reduce power, the USB 3.1 controller supports a power-down mode. In power-down mode, the controller and the PHY can shut down their clocks. The controller supports wakeup on the detection of the following events:

  • Resume
  • Remote wakeup
  • Session request protocol
  • New session start

The USB specification has different power states:

  • For SuperSpeed, there are four power states: U0, U1, U2, and U3
  • USB 2.0 has three power states: L0, L1, and Suspend (L2)

Hibernation is not supported. No suspend mode supported. Driver should not put controller into U3 state.
