4.3. Report Hierarchy Placement

Generates the Merged Hierarchy Placement Summary report that allows you to analyze and compare hierarchical placement data across multiple projects, potentially guiding optimization efforts such as floorplanning.

The report shows the placement of design hierarchy elements by reporting one row for each instance in the RTL hierarchy of your design. The report's top-level summary provides the following aggregated data:

  • Project Count—represents the number of projects reporting the instance.
  • Avg # of Placed Atoms—the average number of placed atoms across projects.
  • Clock Sector Stability Ratio—how large the smallest clock sector bounding box is compared to the unioned area of all clock sector bounding boxes for modules sharing the same full name.
  • Union of Clock Sector Bounding Box—the smallest bounding box that includes all of the clock sector bounding boxes for the module sharing the same full name.

You can use these reports in the following ways:

  • Selecting an instance opens a summary-detail panel for in-depth analysis on the right. The summary-detail panel includes a summary table for each project that reports the instance's placement, and an image detail panel that visualizes the placement data for each project as you select them.
  • Navigate the top-level summary table to explore instances within their design hierarchy.
  • Use the instance-specific summary table to compare instance placements across different projects visually. The instance-specific summary table omits redundant instance name columns, and includes a new column indicating the project source. The table also includes LAB Bounding Box and Clock Sector Bounding Box columns, corresponding to the image's graphical bounding boxes. The LAB Bounding Box is in red. The Clock Sector Bounding Box is in purple.
