This logical function tests whether the first n letters of one string are the same as the first n letters of the other string, regardless of the case.

  • .TRUE. if the first n letters in ca and cb character strings are equal, maybe except for the case, or if the length of character string ca or cb is less than n.
  • .FALSE. if the first n letters in ca and cb character strings are different for whatever cases.
