7.2.8. Checking FEC Statistics

You can view the FEC statistics when you enable the RS-FEC option in the IP parameter editor. To view the FEC statistics in the Transceiver Toolkit, navigate to the Toolkit Parameters tab and check the CWBIN Counter pane.

The FEC statistics are shown as follows:
  • Corrected Codewords A/B indicates the codewords that are corrected by the FEC logic.
  • Uncorrected A/B indicates the codewords that are not corrected by the FEC logic.
  • Total Error free Codewords A/B indicates the FEC codewords received without any errors.
  • hard_cwbin1_A/B indicates the FEC codewords received with 1 error.
  • hard_cwbin2_A/B indicates the FEC codewords received with 2 errors.
  • hard_cwbin3_A/B indicates the FEC codewords received with 3 errors and so on up to hard_cwbin15_A/B for FEC codewords received with 15 errors.

For 8 and 16 lane designs, two FEC codewords, A and B, are received in parallel. The counting of codewords is done separately for A and B codewords.

For 8 lane designs: Statistics for A codewords are reported in the first lane entry in the even-numbered FEC core, and statistics for the B codewords are reported in the first lane entry in the odd-numbered FEC core.

For 16 lane designs: Statistics for A codewords are reported in the first lane entry in FEC core 0 and statistics for the B codewords are reported in the first lane entry of FEC core 2.
