3. Functional Description

The Ethernet Toolkit is a TCL-based graphical user interface (GUI). It allows you to perform testing of Ethernet IP functionality by doing a sequences of read and write operations to the CSRs. The Toolkit displays the read information visually through GUI color indicators (red or green) or text messages.
You can obtain the following information through the Ethernet Toolkit:
  • Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) status
  • PHY status
  • TX and RX Media Access Control (MAC) settings
  • Auto Negotiation (AN), and Link Training (LT) status 2
  • Forward Error Correction (FEC) status for RS-FEC and Firecode FEC
