Slot limitation with the single processor for Intel® Server Systems.
If the RAID card is installed in Riser 2, or in the bottom slot of Riser 1, with only one CPU installed, the following happens:
- The Intel® RAID Controller is not detected.
- The system reports adapter not found.
- First make sure that the board and card combination are compatible.
- If there is only one CPU installed in the Dual Socket system:
- Use the top slot of Riser 1 for controllers or adapters.
- On single-socket Boards
- Clear the event log, load the Default Settings in the BIOS, and restart the system.
- Confirm that Quiet Boot in BIOS, under the Main Menu, is set to Disabled.
- If enabled, you may not see the POST prompt message to enter the RAID Card BIOS.
An additional task that may be useful is to clear the CMOS:
- Shut the system down.
- Unplug the power cord.
- Open the chassis lid.
- Locate and remove the Real Time Clock (RTC battery) and leave it out for at least 2 minutes.
- Insert the battery
- Plug in the power cord
- Close the chassis cover
- Power on the system.
Check and see if the RAID card is detected. If necessary, go into the BIOS Setup Utility and reset any customized BIOS settings again.
