How to Install the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management

Description

Needs to enable a new Intel® Optane™ Memory (32GB) using the  Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application available on the Microsoft Store*.

Resolution

The Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application is only available through the Microsoft Store* with Windows® 10 version 1803 or later installed. It requires the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) Windows* driver to be installed on the system before downloading.

Note
  • The Intel® RST driver/application version 17.9.1 or later includes an installer that does the following:
    • Install driver,
    • Uninstall legacy application
    • Start the process for downloading the application from the Microsoft Store.

If you only need to install the driver follow the process below.  This can be useful for packages before Intel® RST 17.9.1 that required the f6 driver installed before downloading the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application.

  1. Download the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) Floppy Driver Package.
  2. Extract the files from the package.
  3. Right-click the iaStorAC.inf file and select Install.
  4. Restart the computer to complete the installation.
  5. At the Microsoft Store, search for the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management app and download it.
  6.  Read and accept the terms of the license. The installation should be completed.
Note
  • If the system does not have the basic requirements for the Intel® Optane™ Memory, the download of the application will not be possible.
  • Once the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management is installed, the old apps can be uninstalled from Microsoft control panel without any problem.  Important: If Intel® Optane™ Memory is enabled, this will have to be disabled before uninstalling the legacy application.
