How do I update from the Embedded EFI Shell?

Note If you are updating from BIOS version below 03.01.0038, you must update to bridge BIOS version 03.01.2032 first.
  1. Download the latest EFI firmware update package for Intel® Server Boards and Systems S1200SP Family.
  2. Unzip the contents of the update package and copy all files to the root of the USB flash drive.
  3. Insert the USB flash drive to any available USB port of the server.
  4. Reboot the server to EFI Shell - during POST, hit the F6 key when prompted to access the Boot Manager, and choose EFI Shell.
  5. When in the EFI Shell, as the contents are on the root of the USB flash drive, the update should begin automatically. Simply hit any key when prompted. If the update process doesn't start on its own, proceed as follows:
    1. Type map -r to mount the USB flash drive and see what the USB flash drive ID is, usually fs0. The USB flash drive may also be mounted as fs1, depending on the other installed devices your system may have.
    2. Type fs0: (or fs1:) to access the USB flash drive.
    3. Type Startup.nsh to start the firmware update process. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. When prompted with the five options to choose from, select #3 (Update both, the SDR and FRU) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. Once done, restart the system into the BIOS by pressing F2 during POST. Then, after you're inside the BIOS, press F9 to load the BIOS default settings. Press F10 to save the changes and exit.
