  • Bluetooth® radio on and off

    You might have multiple options available, but always turn it on and off using the same method.

    Note You can turn your radio settings on or off with the Device Manager, but we don't recommend this method.


    We recommend using the software switch to turn the Bluetooth® radio on and off, however it might not be available on all systems.

    Some systems have a hardware switch in place of, or in addition to, a software switch. When both software and hardware switches are present, avoid using them at the same time. If the Bluetooth radio is turned off with the software switch, it remains off despite cycling the hardware switch on and off. See the User Manual for information on the hardware switch.

    The steps for using the software switch differ between operating systems, as outlined here.

    Windows* 7
    1. Click the Bluetooth® tray icon.
    2. Select Turn Adapter On or Turn Adapter Off.
    You might also be able to access the on and off settings through the Bluetooth® Settings window:
    1. Click the Bluetooth® tray icon > Open Settings.
    2. Under the Options tab select the Turn off the Bluetooth® adapter check box.
    Windows* 8 and later
    1. Slide out the Charm menu by moving the cursor to the bottom-right corner, click Settings > Change PC settings.
    2. Select the Wireless node.
    3. Click the Bluetooth® slider to cycle Bluetooth® on and off.
     
  • Folder sharing settings

    To enable or disable file sharing:

    1. Click Bluetooth® tray icon > Open Settings.
    2. Click the Shared Folder tab, and do one of the following:
      • To enable file sharing, select the Allow remote devices to browse shared folder check box. Click Browse to select the local folder to share with the Bluetooth® devices, and then click OK.
      • To disable file sharing, clear the Allow remote devices to browse shared folder check box, and then click OK.

    To enable or disable user notifications about uploading files via FTP, follow these steps:

    1. Click the Bluetooth® tray icon > Open Settings.
    2. Click the Shared Folder tab, and do one of the following:
      • To enable user notification, select the Notify me when uploading files to the shared folder check box, and click OK.
      • To disable user notification, clear the Notify me when uploading files to the shared folder check box, and click OK.

     
  • Audio settings
     
    Note This section is not applicable if you are using the Windows 8 operating system.
     

    To manage Bluetooth® wireless technology audio settings:

    1. Click the Bluetooth® tray icon > Open Settings.
    2. Click the Audio tab, and then do one or more of the following:
      • For SCMS-T Digital Rights Management (DRM) content protection, select the Connect to an audio device only if it supports SCMS-T content protection check box.
      • For automatic Skype* call switching while listening to music, click Enable Skype Switching. Select the name of the previously connected Bluetooth® audio headset from the drop-down menu. This option is not available if Skype software is not installed on the computer.
    Note Folder sharing and audio settings options are available when Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology is installed.
