5.3.6.9.1. Access to Protected Areas

When the host detects an attempted write access to a protected area, this operation is unconditionally interrupted and an error is reported by setting the prot_err bit in the last operation status register. Additionally, the controller sets the Fail flag in the last operation status register or descriptor. In the CDMA mode, the following descriptors are abandoned and the cont_on_err bit in the device_ctrl (0x0430) register is ignored.

If the prot_err error is detected, then the NAND Flash device must be reinitialized by sending the reset command since access to a protected area could interrupt a command leaving the device in a unknown state.
