1.1. New Features and Enhancements

Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Software Versions 23.1std and 23.1std.1 include functional and security updates. Keep your software up-to-date and follow the technical recommendations that help improve the security of your Quartus® Prime installation.

Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Software Version 23.1std includes the following new features and enhancements:
  • Introduced the Quartus® Prime Installer to the download options. The Quartus® Prime Installer provides a lightweight installer that eliminates the need to download large .tar files and decompress them locally. It also detects the status of your internet connection to support stopping and resuming software downloads with automatic retries for interrupted downloads.
  • New operating system support. For details, refer to Operating System Support.
  • Introduced support for a compact Nios® V/c compact microcontroller IP
    • Based on the RISC-V Classification: RV32I
  • Introduced support for a general purpose Nios® V/g general-purpose processor IP
    • Based on the RISC-V Classification: RV32IM(F) Zicsr_Zicbom
    • Supported features:
      • Custom instruction
      • Instruction and data cache
      • Tightly coupled memory (TCM)
      • Single-precision floating-point unit (FPU)
  • Updated Nios® V/m microcontroller IP support:
    • Removed support for atomic instructions
    • Changed supported interfaces from AXI4 to AXI4-Lite
    • Added option to support a non-pipelined processor configuration
  • Introduced support for Nios® V error detection and ECC status reporting
  • Enabled Picolibc option in Nios® V BSP
  • Enhanced Quartus® Prime GUI with a dialog box reminder of the deprecation of Arria® 10 device support in Quartus® Prime Standard Edition. For details about the deprecation of Arria® 10 device support, refer to Features and Functions Deprecated as of Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Version 22.1std.2.
