2.2. Bias Temperature Instability (BTI) Protection Mode
Bias Temperature Instability (BTI) is a device aging phenomenon that causes threshold voltage shifts over long periods of time in the presence of voltage stress. This effect could eventually cause devices to fail to meet specifications.
For the R-Tile Avalon Streaming Intel FPGA IP for PCI Express, the pin_perst_n signal must not be held active if power is supplied when the FPGA is in user mode. If you plan to use the R-Tile Avalon Streaming Intel FPGA IP for PCI Express, but it is not instantiated in the early phases of your design cycle, you must configure your Intel® Agilex™ I-Series device in BTI protection mode by adding the following QSF assignment in your Intel® Quartus® Prime project:
set_global_assignment -name PRESERVE_UNUSED_XCVR_CHANNEL ON
Failing to do this may cause potential device damage.
