Headhunter.net Builds The Web's Fastest Growing Job Site On Intel® Architecture-Based Servers

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 12, 2000 - Headhunter.net, rated the Web's fastest-growing job-search site, has standardized on Intel® Architecture-based servers to support its search engines and user services.

Using more than 50 two-way and four-way servers based on Intel® Pentium® III and Pentium III Xeon™ processors, Headhunter.net maintains more than 250,000 job listings and 800,000 resumés, and supports some 1.6 million page visits daily by over 3 million unique visitors.

In less than four years, Headhunter.net has grown from basement beginnings into a corporation that operates server farms in Georgia and California. In tripling its number of visitors last year, the company faced two challenges: to distinguish itself in a crowded field and to meet the increasing service demands from an ever-larger community of users.

"The Internet is an ever-changing playing field," said Mark Fouraker, vice president of site operations at Headhunter.net. "Our Pentium III Xeon processor-based servers enhance our ability to get out in front of the Internet world faster and more cost effectively."

Headhunter.net's powerful search engines provide the rich services that bring users back. They can search by profession, experience, keywords, location, salary and travel requirements. Database management tasks, including access to the database of on-line job listings and resumés, are handled by the four-way Pentium III Xeon processor-based servers running Microsoft* SQL Server* software. Headhunter.net also uses Radware's WSD-NP* load-balancing software to shift processing among the company's two server farms and optimize response times.

Within two months, the company will have more than 70 two-way Pentium III and 50 four-way Intel Pentium III Xeon processor-based servers up in two farms.

"With the Intel Architecture, we've been able to launch our business successfully and grow quite comfortably and cost efficiently," Fouraker said. "We've developed a very powerful search engine that benefits from the Intel Pentium III Xeon processor's great performance to provide real value to our customers. And we have the flexibility to grow further and add new capabilities as we want."
