Setting Up MAX+PLUS® II Licensing
A properly set up license file is required to use the MAX+PLUS II BASELINE free software from the Intel® FPGA website.
If you do not have a license file yet, please get one from the Intel FPGA Licensing Center. It will be emailed to you.
When you receive your license file by email, save it to your hard drive as described in the email. Then follow the instructions below to set up licensing on your computer.
Setting Up Licensing in Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista Classic Control Panel View
Quartus® II software version 9.0 and later does not support Windows 2000. Refer to the Operating System Support page on the Intel FPGA website for updated operating system support. To set the LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable through Windows system control panel, perform the following steps:
Note: The license file specification in the MAX+PLUS II License Setup dialog box takes precedence over the LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable setting for that particular software.
- Choose Settings > Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
- Double-click the System icon in the Control Panel window.
- Windows Vista Only: If your computer is running Windows Vista, a dialog box appears with a message prompting you to continue. Click OK.
- Click the Advanced tab in the System Properties dialog box.
- Click the Environment Variables button.
- Click the System Variable list to highlight it, and then click New.
- If the license file LM_LICENSE_FILE exists, select it, then select Edit. If it does not exist, select New and type LM_LICENSE_FILE in the Variable box.
- Type \license.dat or @ in the Value (Variable Value for Windows Vista) box.
- Example: C:\QUARTUS2WE\license.dat or 1800@myserver
- Click OK.
- You can now run the Intel FPGA software.
Setting Up Licensing in Windows NT
To specify the license file in the Windows NT Control Panel, follow these steps:
- Choose Settings > Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
- Double-click the System icon in the Control Panel window.
- Click the Environment tab in the System Properties dialog box.
- Click the System Variable list to highlight it, and then in the Variable box, type LM_LICENSE_FILE.
- Type <path to license file>\license.dat in the Value box.
- Example: C:\QUARTUS2WE\license.dat
- Click SET, and then click OK.
- You can now run the Intel FPGA software.
