Why do SmartVID error message bits return random values in the reserved field when retrieving the Error Message Queue contents from Agilex™ 7 devices?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

In Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 23.2 and earlier, when retrieving the Error Message Queue contents from Agilex™ 7 devices, you may observe that the reserved field located at sector address bit [11:8] displays a random value in the return message when a SmartVID error occurs.

The sector address bit [11:8] is intended to be reserved, and no value should be expected to be returned in that field.

Refer to the Agilex™ 7 SEU Mitigation User Guide for more details about SmartVID Error Message Bits.
