Is there a problem with exporting the DSP resources from the Quartus II software to the Early Power Estimator (EPE) for Arria V device designs?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Yes, when you select the option to Generate PowerPlay Early Power Estimator File for a design in the Quartus® II software that uses DSP blocks in the Arria® V device family, the .csv file will not include the number of DSP blocks used in your design.  Thus, when you import the .csv file created by the Quartus II software into the EPE, there will be no power estimation for the DSP blocks used in your design.
    Resolution

You will need to manually enter the DSP resources and utilization in the EPE to estimate the power of the DSP blocks.

This problem is fixed in the Quartus II software version 12.0.
