Can I use RAM or first-in first-out (FIFO) megafunctions when targetting the MAX® II device family?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Yes, RAM or FIFO megafunctions can be used with the MAX II device family. RAMs or FIFOs will be implemented using LE registers. The available LE resources in the MAX II device and the support logic of the megafunction will determine the supported size of a RAM or FIFO function. The list below shows the supported megawizard plug-in manager memory functions when MAX II is the target device family:

In the memory compiler folder of the plug-in manager:
  • FIFO
  • Flash Memory (Note 1)
  • RAM: 1-PORT
  • RAM: 2-PORT
  • RAM: 3-PORT

In the Storage folder of plug-in manager:
  • ALT3PRAM
  • LPM_FF
  • LPM_FIFO
  • LPM_RAM_DP
  • LPM_RAM_DP
  • LPM_RAM_DQ
  • LPM_RAM_IO
  • LPM_SHIFTREG
Note 1 - the Flash Memory megafunction (altufm) utilizes the dedicated user flash memory (UFM) block in MAX II devices.
