Why does Quartus II software version 9.1 not optimize the sampling window (SW) in Stratix IV device LVDS applications?

Environment

    Description

    Quartus® II software version 9.1 will not optimize the sampling window for Stratix® IV devices when using the ALTLVDS Megafunction configured as a receiver with non-DPA hard-SERDES on left and right I/O banks. The sampling window specification as reported in timing analysis could be violated in the Quartus II software version 9.1 release.

    As a result, the receiver may not sample the data correctly. This will be fixed in a future release of Quartus II software.

    Resolution

    To resolve this problem in Quartus II software version 9.1, download and install the appropriate patch from the links below.  You will need to re-compile your project after the patch is installed.

    This is fixed in the Quartus II software version 9.1SP1.
