Wi-Fi 6 vs. Wi-Fi 6E/7: Understanding 6 GHz Band Support Differences
Intel Wi-Fi 6 products conform to the Wi-Fi Alliance's Wi-Fi 6 standard, operating on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Consequently, these devices are not designed for the 6 GHz band, which is utilized by the newer Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 technologies.
To access the 6 GHz band, you'll need:
- An Intel Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 product on your PC
- A router compatible with Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 technology
- Ensure your PC runs Windows® 11 with the latest updates from Microsoft. See 'How to Enable 6 GHz Band Using Intel® Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 Products' for details.
