Supported Windows* product types by the Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Trying to install Intel® VROC 8.0 or higher on a Windows* Server operating system. The installation aborts with the message that the operating system is not supported.
The installation requirements for the Intel® VROC GUI application are described in What Are the Installation Requirements for the Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) Graphical User Interface (GUI) Application?. However, if those requirements are met but you keep seeing a message stating your operating system is not supported while in fact it is supported, the likely reason is the specific Windows* product type you are using.
During the Intel® VROC GUI installation, the installer sets a property for Windows* NT which indicates the Windows* product type. This property can have three different values as shown below; however, only two of them are supported by the Intel® VROC GUI installer.
Value | Meaning | Supported |
1 | Windows Professional | Yes |
2 | Windows Domain Controller | No |
3 | Windows Server | Yes |
The Intel® VROC GUI installer supports only the product types Windows Professional and Windows Server. The product type Windows Domain Controller is not supported, so if you are using a Windows Domain Controller, the installer will show the message that the operating system is not supported.
Some users have reported that if they disable the Windows Domain Controller setting prior to installing the Intel® VROC GUI and then re-enable it after the installation is complete, the Intel® VROC GUI works normally. This workaround may be useful for users attempting to install the Intel® VROC GUI in systems configured as Windows Domain Controllers.
Additional details about the installation process can be checked in the installation log from the Intel® VROC GUI wizard.
