Intel® Unison™ app Bluetooth Connection Error

Summary

This article contains a workaround for a Bluetooth connection error encountered during initial setup of the Intel® Unison™ app.

Description

This Bluetooth connection error may present in two different ways.

  1. After installing the Intel® Unison™ app on the laptop, the call pairing does not complete. The Bluetooth pairing request and PIN do not appear on the phone.
  2. After installing the Intel® Unison™ app on the laptop, and completing Bluetooth pairing with the phone an error message is presented on the laptop saying Unable to connect to your device via Bluetooth. The call feature does not work.

Resolution

The name of the phone in the Intel® Unison™ app must match the name used on the phone.   

  1. Check the Unison app on the laptop to see what Bluetooth device name is being used for the Android phone.

  2. On the Android phone, open the settings and find the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Rename the Bluetooth name to match the name shown in the Unison app on the laptop.  In the example below, the device name needs to be changed from Xiaomi pro to Xiaomi 12. Make sure that the device names are exactly the same.

  4. Retry the Bluetooth connection from the Unison app on the laptop and it should complete successfully.
