Steps to solve noisy fan issues due to high RPM (revolutions per minute).
The Intel® NUC's fan is behaving strangely. The fan varies between 0 and 4000 RPM. Even when the temperature is normal around 40°C, the fan speed changes from 0 rpm and then ramps ups to 4000 rpm. The behavior repeats and the fan is in a cycle of off, quiet, loud, off, quiet, loud, and so on.
The behavior is the same even when the Fan Control Mode is set to "Cool" and Fan off capability is disabled.
To solve the behavior, follow these steps:
- Update to the latest BIOS version available. Refer to the BIOS Update Instructions.
- Try different Fan Control Mode options and test using different values for Fan Control Settings. Refer to Cooling and Fan Controls.
- If the behavior persists, contact Intel Customer Support.
