How to fix and/or add a new keyboard layout
The symbol displayed on the screen is not the same symbol that was typed on the keyboard.
For example:
- When typing the: @ symbol, the: " symbol displays instead.
- When typing the: $ symbol, the: € symbol displays instead.
- When typing the letter "J" the number "1" display instead
- The numlock light is on in the keyboard
Windows* supports different keyboard layouts. Ensure the Intel® NUC Laptop keyboard matches the layout that is applied in the Windows preferences.
Note | An Intel NUC laptop purchased in Australia will have the UK keyboard layout. |
- To find and change the keyboard layout in Windows® 10 or Windows 11*, follow the Manage the input and display language settings in Windows instructions.
- If you see that the light on the numlk key is on , this means that the numpad keys are active. Press fn + numlk at the same time to disable the numpad function and return to the normal keys on your selected keyboard layout.
For some languages to work properly, you need an admin on your PC to install the language features. For reference, you can check Microsoft Ignite / Languages overview.
