No Signal on the Oscilloscope to Enable 1PPS Signal Output on the Intel® Ethernet Network Adapter I225-T1 to Enable 1PPS Signal Output

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

Intel® Ethernet Network Adapter I225-T1 does not support 1PPS output.

Description
  • Trying to enable 1PPS output to i225 NIC to measure its synchronization accuracy.
  • After syncing the time with ptp4l, sysfs commands is used to enable PPS output:

    echo 1 > /sys/class/ptp/ptp1/pps_enable
    echo 2 0 > /sys/class/ptp/ptp1/pins/SDP0
    echo '0 0 0 1 0' > /sys/class/ptp/ptp1/period

  • When the oscilloscope is connected to any Software Defined Pins (SDPs) on the i225, it does not show any signal on the oscilloscope.
Resolution

On Intel® Ethernet Network Adapter I225-T1, the SDPs are not able to send a 1PPS clock signal. So this card doesn't support 1PPS output.

The current adapters that can support the feature 1PPS signal output are:
