Summary

Recommendation for making clones of the image on an Intel® Optane™ Memory H series SSD

Description

Need to make a back-up copy of the operating system (OS) image

Resolution

Because the Intel® Optane™ memory H Series contains two different media types (Optane Memory and NAND), backing up data is a different process from a standard SSD.

Follow any procedures provided by your system manufacturer.

Example:

If cloning any Intel® Optane™ memory volume, it is required to disable (or ‘unpair’ the devices in the volume) acceleration. Once disabled, use cloning software to clone the "slow" media portion of the device. (In the case of an Intel® Optane™ memory H Series module, this would be the Intel® NAND portion.)

Once complete, re-enable acceleration.
