Explains the Intel® VROC dependency for processors from the Intel® Xeon® Processors family.
Need to know what processors are required for Intel® VROC, or if all processors from the Intel® Xeon® family support this.
Intel® VROC has a hardware dependency on an Intel® Xeon® feature known as Intel® Volume Management Device (Intel® VMD). Therefore, Intel® VROC is only supported on processors with the Intel® VMD technology.
The Intel® Processor families below support Intel® VROC and Intel® VMD:
- 1st Generation Intel® Xeon Scalable Processors (-SP, -D, -W)
- 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon Scalable Processors (-SP, -D, -W)
- 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon Scalable Processors (-SP, -D, -W)
- 4th Generation Intel® Xeon Scalable Processors (-SP, -D, -W)
The above list identifies the processors that support Intel® VROC with Intel® VMD, but this functionality must be enabled by the system provider at the platform level. Just because a processor from one of these families is used, does not guarantee that the platform supports Intel® VROC with Intel® VMD. Confirm the support with the platform provider.
Additional support considerations are explained in Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) Supported Configurations.
