How to Connect a U.2 SSD in a Motherboard That Does Not Have U.2 Port

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

It may be possible to use an adapter to connect the drive if no U.2 ports are available.

Description

Different motherboards do not have U.2 connectors, and there are no other cables included with the Intel® Optane™ SSD DC P5800X Series.

Resolution

It may be possible to use an U.2 to M.2 adapter, or an U.2 to PCIe* adapter to connect the drive, but it is always important to keep in mind that Intel does not manufacture nor support those adapters. It is highly recommended to connect the drives directly to the motherboard.

It is necessary to confirm the compatibility of the adapter with the manufacturer of the motherboard or the adapter.

Data Center drives, such as the Intel® Optane™ SSD DC P5800X Series, are intended to be used in server systems that will generally have the required ports.
