How to see if Intel® Optane™ memory device or Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application is causing issues or prompting errors.
- Intel Optane application shows System does not meet the requirements, but there is no Intel Optane hardware installed or used.
- No Intel Optane Memory hardware is installed, but system keeps showing Intel Optane-related messages.
- Confirm whether your system has an Intel Optane memory hardware installed by reviewing the article: How to Determine What Intel® Optane™ Memory Technology Is in Your System.
- If you don’t see any Intel Optane memory hardware in your system, chances are your system manufacturer installed the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) driver and/or the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application by default. Check with your system manufacturer if the Intel RST driver and/or the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application can be safely uninstalled so that the system stops reporting compatibility messages with regards to Intel Optane memory.
The notifications from the application can also be disabled without having to uninstall the application from the system:
- Go to Start Menu > Settings > System > Notifications and Actions.
- Select the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application.
- Toggle notifications Off.
Alternatively, it's also possible to uninstall the application if it is not being used at all. However, we recommend checking first with the system vendor if the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application can be safely uninstalled, especially if it came pre-installed. If you are not sure, do not uninstall it before contacting the system vendor:
- Go to Start Menu > Settings > Apps.
- Select the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application.
- Click Uninstall.
