Description
Unclear why in Windows 11* the Defragment and Optimize application allows user to press the Optimize button for the Intel Optane Memory volume.
Resolution
In Windows 11, the Defragment and Optimize application is incorrectly detecting Intel Optane Memory volumes as HDDs and making this functionality available to defrag the volume. This is a bug and Intel is checking with Microsoft for a resolution.
| Note | It is ok to Press the Optimize button and complete this process, but it is not recommended, as there could be a reduction in performance as the Intel® RST software then re-optimizes the data on the drive. |
