Tips to help when the 12th Gen Intel Core Processor are not reaching the maximum Turbo frequency
Issue: The maximum Intel® Turbo frequency for performance cores or efficient cores using the 12Gen Intel® Core™ is not reached.
Max Turbo Frequency refers to the maximum single-core processor frequency that can be achieved with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. See the article Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0: Higher Performance When You Need It Most for more information and applicability of this technology.
To resolve this issue, try the following:
- Clear CMOS and or/update BIOS.
- Reseat the processor.
- Ensure that the fan heat sink is adjusted properly and is appropriate for your system.
- Make sure to apply the right amount of TIM (thermal interface material).
- If you are using Intel® XTU and your processor is supporting it, you can see why the processor is throttling. Power Limit, Current Limit, Thermal, and others.
- You can run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool to verify the functionality of the processor.
