What is the cause of the following PSU (Power Supply Unit) errors in Intel® BMC (Baseboard Management Controller)?

BMC Logs Output
  • Configuration error - The PSU is incompatible with one or more PSUs that are present in the system - Asserted
  • SensorName:#48 Description: Run-time Critical Stop - Asserted
  • SensorName:Voltage Fault Description: State Asserted - Asserted
  • SensorName:BB +12.0V Description: Upper Non-critical - going high - Asserted
  • SensorType:NM Capability SensorName: NM Exception Description:OEM - Asserted
Resolution

For the PSU errors:

These systems have "Voltage Fault" and "Configuration Error: PSU Incompatibility" and errors are related to Power Supply and Voltage output like +12V and 3.3V.

To address the errors, we recommend swapping the power supplies and seeing if the "Configuration Error and PSU Incompatibility error" will reoccur by monitoring for 24 hours after swapping the PSUs.

If the issue is still present, collect a BMC DebugLogs set of files and submit a support case on Intel Support
