Description

CPU Over Temperature error encountered during the PC boot

Resolution

For self-built systems, follow the steps below as it might resolve your issue:

  1. Ensure that the CPU thermal solution used is compatible and correct for the specific CPU. Refer to How to Choose Thermal Solutions for Intel® Core™ Boxed Desktop Processor.
  2. Apply the right amount of thermal interface material (TIM). Refer to How to Apply or Remove Thermal Interface Material (TIM).
  3. Load BIOS default/or update BIOS. You may wish to note the current BIOS settings before resetting the BIOS.
