How to Run Intel® Virtualization Technology Using Intel® Processor on a New Motherboard

Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT-x) was disabled when tested on a new motherboard

Description

Intel® processor has the VT-x enabled but when tested to a different motherboard it gets disabled.

Resolution

Follow the steps below:-

  1. Make sure that the processor supports VT-x. Refer to the product specification page, and check Intel-VT-x under advanced technology for the processor.
  2. Make sure that Intel VT-x is enabled in the BIOS. Refer to the BIOS motherboard vendor for BIOS support
  3. Make sure that Hyper-V is supported in your operating system. For example, The Hyper-V role cannot be installed on Windows 10 Home, Refer to your operating system manufacturer for support.
