Socket LGA1700 with Comparison to Socket LGA1200
Intel® Desktop Processors 12th, 13th and 14th gen are based on socket LGA1700. Socket LGA1700 is not electrically or mechanically compatible with previous sockets (such as LGA1200, LGA1151, or others). Intel® Processor for Desktop is also compatible with LGA 1700.
LGA1700 socket for Intel® Desktop Processors 12th, 13th and 14th gen has a higher pin count and improved power delivery compared to LGA1200.
Size of LGA1700 is different in comparison to the size of previous sockets (such as LGA1200, LGA1151, or others).
The socket keying mechanism (4 keys) for LGA1700 socket is different from the socket keying (2 keys) for previous sockets (such as LGA1200, LGA1151, or others). See Image 1 and Image 2 below for details.
