Intel® Memory and Storage Tool (Intel® MAS) Does Not Open and Shows That IMAS_GUI Has Stopped Working

What to do if the Intel MAS software does not run and the application GUI will not launch

Description

An error message displays after trying to open/launch the Intel Memory and Storage Tool (Intel MAS), indicating that IMAS_GUI has stopped working.

Resolution

Recommendations:

  1. Confirm if the application is being opened with Administrator rights.
  2. Confirm that no other applications such as antivirus or Windows* security are blocking it.
  3. Reinstall Intel Memory and Storage Tool or try the previous release/version.


If the issues persist, contact Intel support and provide the TDK.log file found in the Intel Memory and Storage Tool installation foder.

As a temporary measure, it is also possible to use the Intel Memory and Storage Tool CLI version, included with the GUI, which can be accessed via the command prompt (CMD):
