Description
When looking in the device manager, the status of the Intel® Ethernet Controller or Intel® Ethernet Adapter shows "Code 10, the device cannot start".
Resolution
Some recommendations and steps that may help are detailed below:
- Proceed to power-cycle the system:
If the system is a desktop computer:
- Turn off the system.
- Disconnect the power cables from the computer.
- Press and hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds.
- Leave the computer disconnected for around 10 minutes.
- Re-connect the cables, boot the system, and check the connectivity and status of the Intel® Ethernet Controller/Intel® Ethernet Adapter.
If the system is a laptop computer:
- Disconnect the charger cable from the laptop.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Remove the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds.
- Leave the laptop disconnected for around 10 minutes.
- Re-insert the battery as well as the charger cable if needed and check the connectivity and status of the Intel® Ethernet Controller/Intel® Ethernet Adapter.
- Verify that the latest drivers are installed.
