Summary
Explains the generic Beep and CATERR LED behavior in Juniper Pass Boards
Description
CATERR LED blinking RED with continuous Beep in M10JNP2SB board
Resolution
- If CATERR LED becomes RED then there must be some issue with the CPU, it might be correctable or non-correctable error. We need to investigate SEL logs for the cause. Generate SYSINFO logs.
- Beep sound occurs if any threshold value cross like overheat, voltage fluctuations, etc. But we don’t have pattern for it. If the CPU over temperature, fan failure and CPU throttled that causes CPU CATERR LED blinking RED color with beep sound. The root cause of the issue could be the high temperature.
- Check if all the system fans are working fine? Do reset the fans once.
- If you are still facing the same issue check with minimal components like 1 processor, 1 DIMM, 1 PSU and also you can swap the units to isolate the problem.
- If the issue isolates to be a motherboard faulty, then the motherboard needs to replaced. Contact Intel Customer Support with the system markings.
