What to Do if Intel® Optane™ Memory Stops Working While Accelerating a Secondary Drive

Description

The Intel® Optane™ Memory module failed and now the secondary drive in the system that was paired with it is not visible.

Note
  • If possible, back up all the information before attempting the steps below. Stored data in the secondary drive may be lost.
  • It is always recommended to perform regular data back ups in case of a hardware failure.
  1. Disable the Intel Optane Memory acceleration from the application: How to Disable System Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory.
    1. If it is not possible to disable the acceleration from the application, deconcatenate the Intel Optane Memory from the BIOS.
  2. Clean the metadata from the Intel Optane Memory and the secondary drive using the application: How to Clean Intel® Optane™ Memory Metadata Using the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management Application.
  3. Check the drive is visible under Disk Management.
