Additional information

Different HDMI versions have been developed over the years, each version determining the capabilities and supported features of a configuration (limited by the lowest version port or cable). When choosing a configuration, ensure all cables and ports have the minimum required HDMI version.

Most non-advanced configurations are supported even by low-end HDMI versions. For example, the common 1080p 60Hz format is supported on all HDMI versions, back to HDMI 1.0 (developed in 2002).

The current existing HDMI versions are 1.0 (2002), 1.1 (2004), 1.2 (2005), 1.3 (2006), 1.4 (2009), 2.0 (2013), and 2.1 (2017).
