You can install Intel RWC3 on a system or virtual machine that does not have an Intel® RAID Controller on it. This is because Intel RWC3 can be used to manage/monitor Intel® RAID Controllers on a remote system via network.
For example, you can install Intel RWC3:
- On a Windows® 10 laptop to remote manage Intel RAID Controllers installed in Intel® Server Systems
- On a Linux virtual machine (guest OS) to manage Intel RAID Controllers on the VMware ESXi* host
